"We have never had a flat with our Goodyear Offroad so far. Knock on wood!" Those are the final lines of our previous feature on Andrea and Mike, two brave overlanders behind 4extremes. Well, here we are, 80,000 km later – and guess what: still no punctures.
International roads of Europe, dunes in the Sahara Desert, frozen rivers in Siberia, vast plains in Mongolia, and the gravel roads in Patagonia: Andrea and Mike Kammermann tackle it all in a single vehicle. Not just any vehicle, of course. A modified 13-ton Mercedes Axor 1829 4x4 truck. A mouthful of a name, but absolutely the type of vehicle you need for the extreme conditions the Kammermanns face on a regular basis.
For the last 8 years, the husband-and-wife duo has been on the road, travelling around the world, seeking the planet’s most remote locations. That means they’re often days away from infrastructure or support – you can’t exactly find a garage in the middle of a 2,405 square kilometre national park. In other words, they need equipment they can rely on, especially something as fundamental as your vehicle’s tyres. And that’s exactly why they’ve relied on the Goodyear Offroad ever since the start of their travels.
